Specific grade levels are listed for each event. There are also numerous programs specially designed for families of Girl Scouts. We encourage you to be involved with your daughter's interest in Girl Scouting.

Send in registrations early to ensure space availability. When an event fills, no further registrations will be accepted. Only early deadlines are listed. Registrations will be accepted at a higher fee if space is available usually two weeks prior to event. Contact the Service Center for final deadlines and pricing. Fall 2008

River Raft Race Workshop 2008 (Grades 6-12 & Adults)
Learn how to design and build a raft for the River Raft Race. Construction, race rules, and boating safety will be covered. Prepare for the Sept. 6 River Raft Race on the Hiwassee River. Event #131 on
Aug. 4 from 6-8pm at the Girl Scout Service Center. $3 per person until July 24.

River Raft Race 2008 (Grades 6-12 and Adults)
Girl teams and adult teams are invited to build their own separate rafts and compete as they float and paddle down the Hiwassee River. The two-hour float trip will end with awards for the fastest raft, the best-looking raft, the hard luck raft, and the best Girl Scout skills raft. The race will only be cancelled in case of lightning—rain will not stop the race. All food is up to the troops. Troops may camp nearby. Event #130 on
Sept. 6. $15 per raft until Aug. 7. Check-in by 12:30pm, race begins at 1:30pm. Bring troop raft; paddle & life jacket for each team member. There must be at least 3 persons per raft (no tagalongs). Girls and adults must be on separate rafts.

Program Aide (Grades 7-10*) (*must have completed 6th grade for Cadette P.A. and 9th grade for the Senior P.A.)
This workshop will give girls a knowledge base that will enhance the development of their skills and abilities when working directly with a troop/group (under the supervision of an adult volunteer). Event #128-A on
Aug. 9 from 10am-4pm at the Girl Scout Service Center. $10 per girl until July 17. Event #128-B on Sept. 20 from 9am-3pm at the Southeast Bank Community Room in Athens, TN. $10 per girl until Aug. 28. Keeping It Real (Grades 6-12)
Attend any or all sessions held throughout the year and make new friends. Event #125-A “Top Chef” will be held at My Family Dinners on
Aug 26 from 6-8pm. $15 until Aug. 14. Event #125-B “Monster Garage” will be held at the Girl Scout Service Center on Dec. 9 from 6-8pm. $5 until Nov. 20. (Girls must be 14 years old (DVD contains graphic materials related to driving under the influence). Event #125-C “Design Star” will be held at the Hwy. 153 location of Lowes on Feb. 10 from 6-8pm. $5 until Jan. 29. Event #125-D “How Do I Look?” will be held on Apr. 7 from 6-8pm at the Intl. Fall Product Sale (Adults)
This workshop is designed for persons who have NEVER participated in the Fall Product Sale Program. It will cover paperwork, rules, guidelines, and other information to help make your troop’s participation a success. Event #115 on

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Grades 9-12)
Come and share some of your favorite authors with this teen book club. We may read literature, poetry, manga or even watch a movie version of a book—that’s up to you! Event #135 (attend all dates)
Sept. 11, Nov. 13, Dec. 4, Jan. 15, Feb. 26 and May 14. $30 per girl until Sept. 4. Fee includes patch and refreshments. Girls must purchase their own books. Barnes & Noble on Hamilton Place Mall Blvd. and then they are moving to Hamilton Place Mall in November.

Go for the Bronze (Adult)
Adults will look at the four steps necessary for Junior Girl Scouts to earn the Girl Scout Bronze Award. Participants will explore ways to enable girls to learn leadership and planning skills necessary to completing a service project that requires a minimum of 15 hours. Event #121-A on
Sept. 22 from 6-7pm at the Girl Scout Service Center. $5 fee until Sept. 11 includes workbook and training supplies. Event #121-B on Dec. 8 from 6-7pm at the Girl Scout Service Center. $5 fee until Nov. 20 includes workbook and training supplies.

College 101 (Grades 6-12)
Thinking about college? Not really sure where to begin looking? Join other Girl Scouts and their parents as we explore the college admissions process from start to finish. In conjunction with the College Access Center, girls will discover how to prepare, choose, apply, and pay for college. Get the info you need to make smart choices for the future! Event #106 to be held
Sept. 23 from 6-8pm at Chattanooga State. $10 per girl. Register by Sept. 11. Fee includes College 101 Focus Book and information packet. Parents may attend at no additional fee.

Daisy Day at the Zoo (Grades K-1 and Dad or other significant adult male*)
Girls and their dads* will spend the day at the Chattanooga Zoo visiting the animals and participating in special activities. Event #109.
Sept. 27 from 10am-2pm. $8 per couple until Sept. 11.

Go for the Silver (Grades 6-8 and Adults)
Girls ages 12-14 will receive information on the process toward completing the requirements to earn this award, the highest award a Girl Scout ages 12-14 can achieve. Event #122-A on

Scout Day at Lake Winnie (All grades & families)
All Girl Scouts (and Boy Scouts) K-12 will receive FREE gate admission and FREE unlimited rides ($26 value) on Sunday,
Oct. 5. Park opens at 12noon. Girl Scouts MUST wear uniform, sash, vest, or membership pin. No reservation required. (The Girl Scout Council Shop at 1936 Dayton Blvd., Red Bank, will be open on Sat., Sept. 20 and Oct. 4 from 8:30am to 12:30pm for membership pin and/or uniform component purchases.)

Engineering a Future (Grades 4-8)
Girl Scouts is joining forces with Whirlpool (Cleveland Cooking Products Division) and the Society of Women Engineers to offer a one-day hands-on opportunity at U.T.C. on
Oct. 11 from 8am-4pm for girls to learn about design and engineering concepts. This program will challenge the girls to identify problems and come up with solutions through hands-on activities under the supervision of female engineers. Event #114. $10 per girl until Sept. 18. Includes T-shirt, event patch, lunch and program supplies. Bring items for Ronald McDonald House (choose from list to be provided with confirmation). Babysitting for Girls (Grades 6-12)
American Red Cross Babysitter’s 6-hour course gives youth the skills and confidence they need to be great babysitters. Organized in 35- to 50-minute segments, the course provides participants with a range of injury prevention, first aid and basic care skills. Choose from two sessions held at the Girl Scout Service Center. Event #103-A on
Oct. 11 from 10am-4:30pm, $20 until Sept. 11. Event #103-B on June 6 from 10am-4:30pm, $20 until May 7. Bring lunch & drink.

Project Runway (Grades 9-12)
This two-day design camp will give girls a glimpse at what it’s like to be in fashion. From clothing design to hair and makeup, we’ll explore different aspects of this industry. Event #129-A on
Oct. 13 and 14 from 9am-3pm at Hamilton Place Mall (store TBA). $50 per girl until Sept. 11. Fee includes individually designed hair & makeup by a professional; materials for design project that girls may keep; snack and drinks. Bring lunch, drink & supplies from a list. Me & My Gal (Grades 4-12 & Dad or other significant adult male*)
Spend a weekend at Camp Adahi with your dad*
Oct. 17-19. Have a good time canoeing, crafting, fishing, hiking, etc. Join in the hayride around camp and a “Disco”-themed costumed party. Event #127. $30 per person until Sept. 25. Call us at 423-877-2688 or 1-800-446-2472 to request a special registration form for this event, or register online. Bring items from packing list in confirmation and your favorite Disco costume. Girls and adults are not housed in the same cabins.

Tough Times (Grades 9-12 & Mother or other significant adult female)
Learn how to identify a potentially dangerous relationship. The workshop outlines the actions which give a clear signal that the girl or someone she knows is becoming involved with a destructive person and gives her the tools to safely remove herself or a friend/family member if the need arises. Statistics show that one in three teens will experience an abusive relationship, but many times these cases go unreported and oftentimes abusive relationships may not always be recognized by teens for what they are. Event #136-A on

Bullseye (Grades 4-5)
Girls learn all about archery: how to hold the bow and arm guard, and safety rules. Event #105 on

Heritage Hunters (Grades 2-3)
Step back in time at the Museum Center at 5ive Points in Cleveland and enjoy uncovering local history with games, stories and fun. Event #124 on

CPR / First Aid Training for Girls (Grades 9-12*) (*girls must be at least 13 years old and physically fit to inflate mannequin. Girls with asthma or allergies that effect breathing may have difficulties with CPR).
This 8-hour course will benefit girls, especially those who babysit. First Aid certification is good for 3 years; CPR is 1 yr. Event #107 on

Cookies Workshop (Adult)

Bring your dad* to an evening in Hollywood at the Chester Frost Park pavilion. At this premier event, you will enjoy dancing, food and spending quality time with your loved one. A photographer will be on-site to capture this special time. Event #111-A (Grades K-1) on
Feb. 7 from 1-2:30pm; Event #111-B (Grades 2-3) on Feb. 7 from 3-5pm; Event #111-C (Grades 2-3) on Feb. 7 from 6-8pm; Event #111-D (Grades 4-5) on Feb. 6 from 6:30-8:30pm. $25 per couple until Jan. 8. All About Me (Grades 6-9 and mothers or other significant adult female)
Learn the signs to look for when conducting routine breast exams led by a professional nurse working in the field of breast cancer. Practice breast exams on simulated models to have a better understanding of what to look for when conducting the self-breast exam. Also, learn some basic Yoga exercises to use for relaxation and stress relief. Event #100 on
March 3 from 6-8pm at the Girl Scout Service Center. $5 per person until Feb. 19. Bring toiletry items for Chattanooga Room in the Inn.

Rough ‘N’ Ready (Grades 4-5. Troop Event)
Cowgirls wanted! Dust off your cowgirl hat and get your western boots, we’re having a Wild West Party at Camp Adahi. Event #135 on
Mar. 27-29. $16 per person until Feb. 26. (additional $10 fee for horseback riding will be paid at camp). Check-in between 5&8pm on Fri. and check-out by 12 noon (Daylight Savings Time) on Sun. Fee includes patch, staff for Zipline, canoe staff, and lifeguards for canoes. Bring packing list items, food for all meals, Western clothing for Sat. night dance. Bring environmentally friendly & energy efficient light bulbs (60 watts, 100 watts, or flood lights). There must be one adult per troop who attends a planning meeting on March 2 from 6-8pm at the Service Center.

Fun at the Farm (Grades K-5)
Get a taste of what it’s like to take care of a real garden. Girls will learn about our local environment and about how plants become food on the table. Three sessions to choose from on
Sept. 20 at Crabtree Farms. Event #115-A for Grades 4-5 from 9am-11am; Event #115-B for Grades 2-5 from 12pm-2pm; Event #115-C for Grades K-3 from 3pm-5pm. $10 per girl until Mar. 12. Fee includes patch and program materials. Bring flowerpots, gardening tools or gloves as donation to Crabtree Farms.

Keeping It Real (Grades 6-12)

Uncovering the Past (Grades 4-5)
Spend the day in Atlanta discovering what the past can reveal. We’ll begin our day at the Tutankhamun Egyptian History and Art Exhibit. Then, we will explore the time when dinosaurs roamed the earth at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Event #137 on
Apr. 9. Will depart from the Girl Scout Service Center. Time TBA. $60 per girl until Mar. 12. Fee includes attraction admissions, lunch and motor coach transportation. (If adults are interested in attending the event, call for additional pricing information. Space is limited.)

Browniefest “Hawaiian Luau”(Grades 2-3 and Dad or other signficiant adult male)
Spend the weekend exploring Camp Adahi. Participants will canoe, trek to Shelter Rock, and cast a rod and reel for good ole’ time fishing. Participants will also enjoy a luau-themed dance on Sat. night. Event #104 on
April 17-19. Check-in between 5&8pm on Friday with check-out by 12noon on Sun. $30 per person until Mar. 19. Fee includes patch, canoeing, crafts & food. Bring environmentally friendly & energy efficient light bulbs (60 watts, 100 watts, or flood lights). Participants may dress in their favorite tropical-themed outfit for the dance.

Annual Meeting (Grades 10-12*, Adults and Delegates) (*must be 14 or older)
Join us for brunch while we conduct council business and celebrate our adult recognitions. Event #101 on
Apr. 18 at Pier 2 Landing (by the Southern Belle Riverboat). Registration at 10:30am with buffet brunch at 11:15am. $15 per person until April 10.

Mall Madness (Grades K-12)
Re-register in Girl Scouting for 2010 and you will be eligible for this overnight party. Join 3,000 other Girl Scouts as we begin our new journey “On the Yellow Brick Road.” Event #126 on
Apr. 24-25 from 10pm-5am. $6 per person (Girl Scout/adult) by Apr. 9. Girls not attending with their troop must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All adults attending must register for event. Absolutely no tagalongs (such as babies, toddlers, siblings who are not registered Girl Scouts).

Girl Recognition (All grades and families)
All Girl Scouts and their families are invited to attend. Special invitations will be mailed to girls receiving awards. Event #119 on
May 3 from 2:30-4:30pm at Notre Dame High School. Event is free & refreshments will be served. Register by Apr 27 (call 423-877-2688 Ext. 220 or 1-800-446-2472 Ext. 220 and leave number of expected persons attended).

Disney Days (Grades 6-12)
Let’s go to Disney World. We’ll stay 4 nights & 5 days. Event #113 on
June 1-5. $800 per person (all-inclusive). Fee includes Disney All-Star Resort accommodations, all meals, 4-day Park Hopper Pass, snacks & bus transportation. $100 due by Nov. 20. $175 payments due Jan. 15, Feb. 26, Mar. 19 and Apr. 16.

Sept. 12, 2009. $15 per raft until Aug. 6. Check-in by 12:30pm, race begins at 1:30pm. Bring troop raft; paddle & life jacket for each team member. There must be at least 3 persons per raft (no tagalongs). Girls and adults must be on separate rafts.

Family Camp 2009 (All grades and families)
Spend a relaxing weekend at Camp Adahi with your family. Hike the trails, canoe the lake and enjoy the campfire. Event #118 on
Aug. 28-30, 2009. $30 per person by July 30, 2009. (Children 3 & under free).
